The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, and the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, assessed in Bucharest that the bilateral and friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Romania are very good and without open questions, and bearing in mind the advantages provided by the geographical proximity and historical context, there really is room for further improvement of all types of cooperation in the future.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced that Konaković, who is visiting Romania, especially thanked that country and President Iohannis for supporting the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.

“In the conversation with President Iohannis, Minister Konaković emphasized the complete and unquestionable commitment of Bosnia and Herzegovina to full membership in the European Union and to fulfilling the priorities set before it. They discussed the current political situation and the demanding path that follows through the reformation of all structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to adapt its economy, social condition, legal and legal capacities, security and defense capabilities to the standards of the European Union and Euro-Atlantic integrations,” the announcement states.

It is added that Konaković emphasized the importance of quick internal action by political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina in a situation where new convocations of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the new President of the European Council are being prepared, and that Bosnia and Herzegovina is counting on Romania’s friendly help and continued support.

“The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, welcomed the efforts that Bosnia and Herzegovina invests in the progress towards membership in the EU and the NATO alliance, stressing the support for strengthening the economy, the social situation in the country, the education system and all public systems and modern infrastructures, as well as making decisions for the benefit of all citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the statement added.
