The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Elmedin Konakovic, spoke yesterday in London with the Minister of State for Europe at the Office for Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development of the United Kingdom (UK), Leo Docherty.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Konakovic expressed satisfaction with the good and friendly relations between BiH and the UK.
He especially expressed his gratitude for the UK’s continued support for reform and integration processes in BiH, as well as the personal contribution of Minister Docherty, who was the first Official to visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after Minister Konakovic took office.
Konakovic informed Minister Docherty about the current situation in BiH in the past period, with an emphasis on the work and activities of the Council of Ministers.
Moreover, he expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved at the state level, considering that the Council of Ministers of BiH adopted a series of decisions, drafts, strategic documents, and initiatives in the past four months with the aim of accelerating the process of fulfilling 14 key priorities from the European Commission (EC) Opinion, as a prerequisite for opening negotiations on European Union (EU) accession.
Furthermore, Konakovic referred to the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Brussels, held at the end of May in Brussels, where the ministers of foreign affairs of the countries of the Western Balkans and the ministers of foreign affairs of the EU discussed cooperation in the field of foreign and security policy.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between BiH and the UK, economic cooperation, contractual relations, and BiH’s path to NATO were discussed.
When it comes to cooperation in the field of defense, satisfaction was expressed with the results so far, given that the UK annually allocates significant funds for projects in BiH and the education of our officers at UK military academies, and provides support for the EUFOR Althea Mission, Klix.ba reports.
