On December 6, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, participated in the Doha Forum, which will be held on December 6 and 7 in Doha, Qatar.

The Doha Forum is one of the most important global platforms for dialogue, bringing together world leaders, policymakers, academia and civil society representatives. Under the slogan “Diplomacy, Dialogue, Diversity”, this year’s Forum is dedicated to the theme “Justice in Action: Beyond Promises to Progress”, emphasizing the need for equitable access to resources, knowledge and technology, and joint efforts to build a sustainable and just future through strengthening international cooperation and solidarity.

International justice and the rule of law are key to global security

Minister Konaković participated in the panel entitled “Upholding International Justice Systems and the Rule of Law”, where in his address he emphasized the importance of preserving international judicial mechanisms and the rule of law as the foundation of global security. He recalled the experiences of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that our country, despite everything it has experienced, has built a society in which coexistence, tolerance and mutual respect remain permanent values. Bosnia and Herzegovina is, as he emphasized, an example that after the most difficult tragedies one can move on, and that peace is always better and more valuable than any conflict.

In this context, the Minister recalled the key role of international courts in prosecuting war crimes, including the verdict on the genocide in Srebrenica, and emphasized that international justice remains an indispensable mechanism in preserving the global order based on rules.

BiH supports the protection of civilians and respect for international law

Speaking about global crises, Minister Konaković emphasized that the principled commitment to peace and the protection of civilians must apply to all international contexts. In this context, he recalled Bosnia and Herzegovina’s continued support for initiatives within the Council of Europe regarding the Russian aggression against Ukraine, emphasizing that the international legal order must be consistently applied in order to prevent the violent change of borders and protect civilians affected by the war. At the same time, he pointed out the difficult humanitarian situation in Palestine and the worrying security circumstances that Sudan is going through, emphasizing that the universal principles of protecting civilians must be applied equally in all crises. He particularly emphasized that the tragedy in Gaza cannot be justified by any political or security argument.

The Minister recalled that the international community has watched the suffering of innocent civilians for too long, and that the world, when it comes to protecting the Palestinian people, has failed the test of humanity.

On the sidelines of the Forum, Minister Konaković held a series of bilateral meetings with officials from various countries, which was an opportunity to exchange views and strengthen cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and partners around the world.
