In cooperation with the instructors from the Slovenian Mountain Rescue Service, BiH rescuers adopted new techniques at the vertical rescue exercise held on Sunday in the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) capital Sarajevo.

Commander of the exercise, Sead Vrana, said that during the exercise, rescuers took care of the injured ones and vertically transported them to the ground by using the rope.

“The exercise involved the search for the injured people by using especially trained dogs, and all on the inaccessible terrain. Then, the injured ones were put in the stretchers which allowed the secure transportation,” Vrana said.

The aim of the exercise was to strengthen the rescuers’ readiness to promptly respond on the accidents, to adopt new knowledge and to develop the interoperability with other services in the circumstances of response to an incident.

The exercise was jointly organized by the Mountain Rescue Service Novi Grad Sarajevo, 15 rescuers and Slovenian Mountain Rescue Service, 6 instructors.
