BiH Presidency Member: “A Third Entity In BiH Is An Illusion That Will Never Be Realized”

The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Dr. Denis Becirovic, spoke with the delegation of the Caucus of Bosniak Councilors in the Mostar City Council, which consisted of: the President of the City Council of the City of Mostar, Djani Rahimic, the President of the Caucus of Bosniak Councilors, Mirza Dreznjak, and councilors Enis Camo and Sanjin Hadziomerovic.

The councilors informed Becirovic about the current situation in Mostar, with particular emphasis on the position of Bosniaks. They pointed out that the Regulatory Plan for the central zone of the City of Mostar does not take into account the interests of all people, and especially of Bosniaks. They said that the Caucus of Bosniak Councilors has long held the position that the central zone should connect people. Unfortunately, the mayor and the current majority are carrying out the usurpation of waqf property, while at the same time refusing to allow the Islamic Community in BiH to establish an Intercultural Center.

During the discussion, the councilors emphasized that political exclusivity and unwillingness to dialogue and compromise are worrying. In that sense, it was pointed out that the mayor of the City of Mostar and his associates are avoiding confronting key problems.

Becirovic stated that Mostar is a BiH city and that it will never be the capital city of any single people. It has been and remains a shared city of all its citizens and peoples. He also emphasized that the idea of forming a third entity is a mere illusion that will never be realized. The future of our country lies in European and Euro-Atlantic integration, not in new divisions.

The member of the Presidency of BiH said that all citizens of the City of Mostar, as well as of the whole of BiH, must be equal before the law. This implies building genuine equality, including equal representation in key city institutions, public enterprises, and institutions. The competent authorities of the City of Mostar are obliged to ensure the protection of the ethnic, religious, and every other identity of all citizens in Mostar, without discrimination against anyone.

Mostar must be a city of equal rights for all people, without disenfranchisement. Only in this way can we build a better future for Mostar and the whole of BiH, concluded the member of the Presidency of BiH, Denis Becirovic.
