The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović spoke with the representatives of the International Roma Union-1971 (IRU-1971) Mehmed Mujić, Fadil Hrustić and Nedim Sivčević.
During the conversation, Bećirović emphasized that as a member of the BiH Presidency, he will advocate for Roma in Bosnia and Herzegovina to exercise full human rights and civil liberties.
The first vice-president of IRU-1971, Mehmed Mujić, thanked Bećirović for the reception and said that it was the first time that they had been received by the BiH Presidency.
Mujić pointed out that such meetings contribute to the efforts of the International Roma Union-1971 to achieve better results for the Roma in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the meeting, Bećirović congratulated the Roma in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the world on the occasion of World Roma Day.
He also said that this date is an opportunity to show that Roma must be included in all democratic processes, without discrimination.
“The construction and development of a society based on democratic values and freedoms, and the protection of human and minority rights is a generally accepted international standard to which the most developed countries of the world aspire,” he said.
It was emphasized that it is important for every member of society, every citizen, to recognize these general values as their personal goal and human obligation in everyday life, announced the BiH Presidency.
