A member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, suggested that the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina discusses a proposal of conclusions for the adoption of an action plan to fulfill the 14 key priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission on the Application of Bosnia and Herzegovina for membership in the European Union.

This proposal sends a clear message that the declarative consensus for European integration must be turned into a working consensus for EU membership. With concrete measures and deadlines for fulfilling the conditions, the institutions of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina will undertake to implement the obligations established by the action plan, in accordance with the priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission.

By signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the EU, Bosnia and Herzegovina committed itself to the gradual harmonization of legislation with the EU acquis as well as its consistent application.

The decision of the European Council, dated December 15, 2022, to grant candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina is a strong incentive.

At the same time, this decision is also an obligation for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the lower levels of government to rapidly continue the reform processes that will enable the opening of negotiations for EU membership and have a favorable effect on the economic, social, political, security, cultural and other aspects of the life of the citizens of Bosnia. and Herzegovina.

By creating and adopting an action plan to fulfill the 14 priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission on the Request of Bosnia and Herzegovina for EU membership, the prerequisites for faster progress in the process of integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the EU would be ensured.

A member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović discussed this proposal with the head of the EU Delegation and the EU’s Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Johan Sattler, who also supported it, stated the office of a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović.
