The celebration of the Day of the City of Sarajevo began this morning in Sarajevo by paying tribute and laying flowers in front of the Eternal Flame, a monument to the victims of the Second World War.

“Sarajevo was freed from Nazism on April 6, 1945. Then, on April 5 and 6, 1992, the siege of Sarajevo began. The criminals who killed Sarajevo’s children, old men, women, citizens from 1992 to 1996 they are not fundamentally different from the criminals from the Second World War,” Denis Bećirović, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasized on the occasion of April 6, Sarajevo City Day.

Nevertheless, Bećirović believes, the idea of Sarajevo won.

“The idea of Bosnia and Herzegovina has won, the idea of living together has won. Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be stronger year by year, and those who attack Bosnia and Herzegovina are doomed and they will surely, sooner or later, go to the dustbin of history,” he added.
