Three versions of Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ letter are circulating in the media, but none of them reached me, said Željka Cvijanović, a member of the BiH Presidency, at a press conference.
“Here, they resorted to falsifying a letter from a high-ranking official of a global organization. Yesterday I reacted to a false thing that was placed in the media with the word “Only” or “samo” which does not exist in the original. Now I have to ask the Secretary General again, and if the Mission and the MFA do not want to do it, I have to ask the man again directly what to do when I was blocked here, to ask him if his letter says “Only” or “samo”, said Cvijanović.
Cvijanović pointed out that it is unacceptable for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to violate the law. “I have a suspicion that they participated in the falsification of the document sent to me by the UN Secretary General,” said Cvijanović.
“Given that we had various communications with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but I also checked with the UN Mission in New York. They are passing the ball from one side to the other, accusing each other to explain why the letter was not communicated. I had communication with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and I asked for my letter to be delivered because it was sent to the MFA regularly and addressed to the UN Mission by us, and of course a copy was sent directly because they are playing games about delivering those my letters,” explained Cvijanović.
She emphasized that they received confirmation from the UN secretariat that they received the letter and that they are waiting through diplomatic channels.
Furthermore, Cvijanović spoke about what she called “speculations” that appeared in certain media that the conclusions proposed by Denis Bećirović at the Presidency session were adopted and that I do not have the right to veto are not correct. She said that she has the right under the Constitution to address the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska and to ask for protection.
“There will be a second round of voting. It is certain that I will use my constitutional right to initiate a veto, in case I am outvoted at the Presidency session,” said Cvijanović.
