US Assistant to Secretary of State from the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried arrived on an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina today.

She was accompanied by the special envoy of the American government for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, and she was welcomed in the Presidency of BiH by the chairman Sefik Dzaferovic and member Milorad Dodik.

The meeting was also attended by US Ambassador to BiH Michael Murphy.
Donfried and Escobar will be with the High Representative today, and a meeting is planned at the BiH Ministry of Defense.

Donfried and Escobar are expected to invite bh. officials to continue to participate in institutions at all levels of government in order to improve functionality and reforms for greater prosperity and to give Bosnia and Herzegovina the status of a candidate for EU membership, and to hold elections in time and make progress in the fight against corruption.

The visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina is part of a five-day tour of US officials in the Western Balkans, Klix.ba writes.
