The session of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina should be held today when the members of the Presidency will consider the confirmation of the proposal for the prime minister-designate of the BiH Council of Ministers, FENA learned from the BiH Presidency.

The members of the Commission for the preparation of the elections of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina previously submitted to the Presidency the proposal of the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the chairmanship of Borjana Krišto.

The agreement on the government formation in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the October parliamentary elections was signed earlier by the representatives of the HDZ, the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) and a block of eight parties consisting of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of BiH, People and Justice, Our Party, Party for BiH, Kasumović Fuadnm – BiH initiative, the Democratic Action Movement (PDA), the People’s European Alliance (NES) and the Party for New Generations.

The document called “Guidelines, principles and goals in the executive and legislative power at the level of BiH for the period 2022-2026” was signed two and a half months after the general elections, and the signatories expressed hope that the new convocation of the Council of Ministers of BiH will be formed very soon, possibly even until the end of this year.

According to the Law on the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the chair of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina is appointed by the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina with each new mandate. The appointment decision is then immediately submitted to the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina for approval.

The chair of the BiH Council of Ministers takes office after the appointment is approved by the House of Representatives, and confirmation of the appointment must be completed within 30 days from the date of appointment.

If the House of Representatives does not confirm the decision of the Presidency of BiH on the appointment of the chair of the Council of Ministers, the Presidency of BiH is obliged to appoint another chair of the Council of Ministers within eight days and submit such a decision to the House of Representatives of the BiH PA for confirmation.
