Bosnia and Herzegovina Pledges Support to the International Criminal Court in Pursuit of Global Justice

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced on its X profile that our country has joined the letter of support for the work of the International Criminal Court (ICC), after US President Donald Trump imposed sanctions on this institution.

Our country has thus signed a joint statement in support of the work of the International Criminal Court, and 78 other countries around the world have done so along with us.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a signatory to the Rome Statute and a member of the ICC Assembly, supports the independence, impartiality and integrity of the International Criminal Court. All measures that undermine the Court risk impunity for the most serious crimes and violate the international rule of law,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

Let us recall that after Trump imposed sanctions on this body, the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, demanded the same from the institutions of BiH.

He said that this is a clear message that attacks on the sovereignty of states and the rights of their citizens to legitimate defense will not be tolerated.

“I will propose that BiH, following the US policy, sanctions the International Criminal Court for the same reasons and put an end to illegitimate pressures,” said Dodik.

Dodik announced on the X network that it is high time to fight for law and justice without fear of anyone’s dictates.

It should also be recalled that, unlike our country, the US is not a signatory to the Rome Statute, the founding document of the ICC.
