The Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina distributed one-time financial assistance to its workers today in accordance with the FBiH Government Decree on the assistance program due to inflation and rising consumer prices.

Director of the FBiH Railways Enis Džafić told FENA that the aid was allocated to 2,659 workers of the FBiH Railways in the amount of 800 KM each. He noted that all employees of the FBiH Railways received one-time assistance, except for members of the Management Board.

“The BiH Railways are the leader in the transportation of goods on the BiH market. We believe that, compared to similar companies in the region, in non-EU countries, Railways of the FBiH currently has the best position both from the financial aspect and with the volume of work per kilometer of track. Also, in RFBiH, workers’ incomes are even higher,” Džafić told FENA.

According to him, the FBiH Railways achieved an operating profit of 14.9 million KM in eight months of this year. He noted that they regularly settle all their obligations to the Tax Administration, as well as obligations that arose in earlier years.

What is necessary in order to improve the conditions for the transportation of goods and passengers, he added, is to allocate significant funds for the modernization of the railway infrastructure in accordance with the Transport Strategy of Railway Traffic passed by both houses of the FBiH Parliament.
