Bosnia and Herzegovina has not yet taken two key steps to secure funds from the Growth Plan. The drafts of the two agreements between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Commission, for which Srđan Amidžić, the State Minister of Finance, is in charge, have not yet been submitted to the Council of Ministers, because Amidžić is currently ill.
Experts warn that, if Bosnia and Herzegovina does not sign these agreements by July and appoint a coordinator, the country could be without 800 million euros. Those funds, due to the previous blockades, would be redirected to other countries of the Western Balkans.
“I would like my colleague Srđan Amidžić or someone from the SNSD to enlighten me. It seems to me that there is no political will and that they will kill this chance of ours, not only for grants and project support, but also for the reform plan related to the Growth Plan, which are serious reforms and preparation for accession to the European Union,” said Edin Forto, Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina (NS).
