The Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, despite the lack of manpower, is making maximum efforts to protect the border by implementing increased measures of checks, border surveillance and airport security, this service said.

The Border Police state that the situation of illegal migration at the border is continuously monitored and that intensified monitoring activities are undertaken, which include, among other things, the extraordinary deployment of personnel in organizational units that are most exposed to migration pressure.

Increased activities include the re-deployment of manpower and technical resources, and assistance to the Border Police is also provided by members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of the Republic of Srpska.

As they pointed out, the border police continuously exchange information and knowledge with partner agencies at all levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as at the international level, with the aim of preventing all security threats.

In accordance with the Framework Plan for joint action and cooperation between the Border Police of BiH and the Service for Affairs with Foreigners, joint actions are continuously implemented with the aim of suppressing illegal migration.

Assistance to the BiH Border Police is also provided by members of the Brčko District Police and cantonal MUPs in accordance with the Agreement on Assistance and Operational Cooperation in Border Surveillance.

BiH Minister of Security Nenad Nešić said earlier that security measures in BiH were raised to a higher level due to fears of a possible spillover of the crisis from the Middle East, and pointed out that the security situation in BiH is currently good.

Nešić also emphasized that the security agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina are successfully performing their regular tasks, and that he expects it to remain so, Srna news agency reports.
