The third meeting of the Organizing Committee for the commemoration of July 11, 1995, the 28th anniversary of the genocide against the Bosniaks in the “United Nations Safe Zone” Srebrenica, was held today in the Memorial Center Potočari – Srebrenica.

The meeting discussed, among other things, how the preparations for the commemoration are going, and the draft program for commemorating the 28th anniversary of the genocide.

Hamdija Fejzić, president of the Organizing Committee, pointed out that the preparations for commemorating the 28th anniversary of the genocide are proceeding according to plan.

“Today we adopted the Draft Program for commemorating the anniversary of the genocide. We have left a deadline of ten days for any additional proposals to be submitted. After that, we will hold a meeting and adopt the final program. The program includes a number of activities, as in previous years. “Preparations for the ‘Peace March’ are going according to plan, and we hope that the weather will not cause us any problems,” said Fejzić.

Suljo Čakanović, president of the subcommittee for the “March of Peace”, said that so far more than 1,400 people have registered to participate.

“Participant registrations for this year’s ‘March of Peace’ are underway, and according to the registrations, we currently have 28 organized groups registered. With groups and individuals, 1,409 people have registered so far. “Abundant rainfall in the past period is creating problems for us on the route, but I believe that everything will be fine and ready for this year’s ‘Peace March,'” said Čakanović.

According to information from the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 29 victims of the genocide have been identified so far, and they will be buried on July 11.
