Bosnia and Herzegovina was visited by 1,059,806 tourists (749,672 foreign and 310,134 domestic guests) in seven months (January-July) this year, which is 10.9 percent more compared to the same period last year.
The number of domestic tourist arrivals in that period was 1.9 percent higher, while foreign tourists had 15.1 percent more arrivals compared to the same period last year, according to data from the BiH Statistics Agency.
The most foreign tourists were from Turkey (110,933), Croatia (98,839), Serbia (91,362), Saudi Arabia (60,859), Slovenia (41,922), and the People’s Republic of China (35,889).
Tourists spent 2,218,541 overnight stays in seven months of this year, which is 8.9 percent more compared to the same period last year. Domestic tourists had 1.7 percent more overnight stays compared to the same period last year, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists was 12.2 percent higher. In the total number of overnight stays, domestic tourists accounted for 29.5 percent, and foreign tourists for 70.5 percent.
When it comes to foreign tourists, the most overnight stays were made by tourists from Croatia (14.7 percent), Serbia (12.7 percent), Turkey (9.5 percent), Saudi Arabia (nine percent), Slovenia (5.9 percent ), Germany (four percent), USA (3.2 percent), China (2.9 percent).
In terms of the length of stay of foreign tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, tourists from Iran are in first place with 3.9 nights, Kuwait with 3.5 nights, Egypt with 3.4 nights, Ireland and Qatar with 3.3 each, and Latvia and Lithuania with 3 each. 1 night on average.
