BiH will be able to return Migrants from Pakistan on the Basis of an Agreement that has come into Force

The President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, signed the Readmission Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Pakistan, and thus created the conditions for its implementation, it was confirmed to agency Fena from the Presidency of BiH.

This document has now been ratified by both countries, which means that it has entered into force. The presidency of BiHratified the document on April 16th.

By concluding this agreement, BiH and Pakistan reaffirm their readiness to engage in international actions to prevent illegal migration, as the Agreement regulates the reception of their own nationals, third-country nationals, and stateless persons residing in the territory of a Contracting Party contrary to their laws.

This is an extremely important agreement for BiH, which in recent years has become a very interesting country for illegal migration along the Balkan route in the chain of countries through which the process of smuggling persons, drugs, vehicles, and other forms of organized crime was performed.

Last year, the Minister of Security of BiH Selmo Cikotic (SDA) and the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ijaz Ahmed Shah signed a Readmission Agreement and an accompanying Protocol that will enable the return of illegal migrants from BiH to Pakistan.

The agreement was signed in a short period of time, even though the procedure began in 2011, but it was passive, and work on it was reactivated afterward. It allows migrants to return to Pakistan in an organized manner.
