The women’s hockey team of Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved an outstanding result at the IIIB Division World Championship, which was held in Estonia this year. After competitive matches and impressive performances, our hockey players won a silver medal, which represents one of the biggest successes of women’s hockey in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The World Cup brought a series of exciting matches and proved how much quality, character and team spirit this national team has. The Ice Dragons opened the tournament with a 6:4 victory against the Philippines, in a game full of tempo and fight until the last minute. Already in the next match, they showed stability and quality by defeating the Republic of South Africa with 3:2, confirming that they are ready to fight for the very top of the table.
The only defeat in the championship came against the host Estonia, who won 3:1 and eventually won the first place in the championship. However, the BiH team quickly returned to winning ways and showed character in the match against Israel, where they won 4:3 after a great fight on the ice.
At the end of the championship came the most convincing victory against Singapore, in which our hockey players dominated and celebrated with as much as 11:0, thereby confirming second place and deservedly winning the silver medal.
This result is the result of great work, discipline and unity of the team. The women’s hockey team of Bosnia and Herzegovina has shown that it can play equally against all opponents in its division, and the achieved success provides additional motivation for the future.
There is great optimism in the team, and the ambitions are already clearly set. After winning the silver, the next goal is even bigger, a gold medal at the next championship. With a quality team and players who improve year after year, the women’s hockey team of Bosnia and Herzegovina has all the prerequisites to achieve this goal.
The silver medal from Estonia will thus be remembered as a big step forward for Bosnian women’s hockey, but also as a harbinger of even greater successes to come.
