Writers from BiH are competing for the first time for prestigious The EU Prize for Literature, reports FENA.
National coordinator for participation of BIH Ibrahim Spahić said to FENA that authors from 12 countries of Europe are participating (BiH, Cyprus, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Luxembourg, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Macedonia).
Spahić said that the pre-condition for participating is that the authors are the citizens of one of those countries and that they’ve published 2 to 4 books in the period of 5 years before the Award ceremony.
Pre-selection of candidates will be held in March, April and May and laureate will be known in November at the special ceremony which will be held in Brussels.
This literature award is being given since 2009, on the joint initiative of Federation of European Publishers, European Writers’ Council and European Booksellers Federation and it encourages the translation of those books to other European languages and enables the promotion of authors and contributes to cultural exchange and intercultural dialogue.
Amir Brka, Kristina Mrđa, Ljubica Ostojić, Ibrahim Spahić and Zvonimir Radeljković are the members of BiH national jury.
