Industrial production in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) recorded growth, mostly in the field of ore and stone extraction, according to the latest data from the Agency for Statistics of BiH. A decline was recorded in the field of the processing industry.
Total seasonally adjusted industrial production in BiH in January 2023 compared to December 2022 is 0.2 percent higher. The production of capital products grew the most (6.3 percent), the production of energy increased by 2.9 percent, and the production of intermediate products increased by 1.7 percent. The production of durable consumer goods decreased by 0.7 percent, and the production of non-durable consumer goods decreased by 3.5 percent.
Observed by areas of activity, seasonally adjusted industrial production recorded growth in the area of extraction of metal ores (37 percent), the area of production of other means of transport (20.3 percent), and the area of extraction of other ores and stones (19.1 percent).
The biggest decline is in the production of tobacco products (100 percent), the production of computers, electronic and optical products (31.3 percent), and the basic production of pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (8.4 percent).

In January 2023, compared to the same month last year, the calendar-adjusted total industrial production recorded a decrease of 0.3 percent.
The production of capital goods increased by 7.9 percent, intermediate products increased by 2.4 percent, as well as the production of non-durable consumer goods, and the production of durable consumer goods increased by 1.5 percent. Energy production is lower by 9.7 percent.
By area, the greatest growth was recorded in the area of basic production of pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (67.6 percent) and the area of metal ore extraction (57.1 percent). The biggest decline was recorded in the area of tobacco product production (100 percent) and in the area of textile production (44.9 percent), Bloomberg Adria writes.
