An action of voluntary blood donation was held today in the premises of the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZTMFBiH) in Sarajevo.

The action was organized by the Heart Association for Children with Cancer, the FBiH Red Cross, the Red Cross of the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo and the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the FBiH.

“Every child with cancer needs blood during chemotherapy. Very often they receive several doses a week. Donated blood means life for them, because without it they would not be able to continue their treatment “, stated the Heart for Children Association.
The period, which occurred with the COVID-19 pandemic, is especially difficult, because the needs for blood and blood derivatives are not decreasing, the association points out, BHRT writes.

“Therefore, we invite all citizens who have the opportunity to come to the Institute for Transfusion Medicine of FBiH on September 8 from 8 am to 5.30 pm to come and donate a part of themselves that can save the lives of as many as three children. Children with cancer are true heroes, but they also need their heroes to support them. Be their hero! ”, They say from the association.
