The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Farmers’ Association has warned that the blockades of freight traffic across border crossings carried out by transporters seriously threaten the survival of domestic agricultural production, especially the dairy sector.
According to the Association, Bosnia and Herzegovina exports around 900 tons of finished dairy products to the European Union every month, and perishable goods require strict temperature regimes and fast delivery. Every hour of delay at the border, they warn, increases the risk of raw material spoilage.
In addition to the direct loss of goods, producers also face potential penalties for delays in delivery, which, according to the Association, damages the reputation of domestic exporters on the EU market in the long term.
“We are not just talking about numbers, but about the survival of thousands of families who live off milk production,” the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Farmers’ Association stressed.
They appealed to the competent institutions to react urgently and ensure the smooth passage of food products across borders.
