Borell: The Situation in Gaza is a humanitarian Disaster caused by Man

The situation in Gaza is a “humanitarian disaster caused by man”, said the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for foreign policy and security, Josep Borrell.

Speaking at the 25th EU-NGO Forum on Human Rights in Brussels, Borrell promised to push for the release of all hostages in the Middle East, to put an end to this “man-made humanitarian disaster”, as the solution sought for the day after, and stop illegal settlements and aggression on the West Bank.

“One has the right to criticize the government of the State of Israel without being labeled as anti-Semitic. I cannot agree with the way the government is behaving without being labeled as anti-something.”

During the night, the Israeli army carried out a series of attacks across the Gaza Strip in which dozens of Palestinians were killed.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that the Israeli army bombed the residential building of the Al-Yazigi family in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, killing an unspecified number of people, including women and children.

Another Israeli airstrike was carried out on a house in the Khan Younis refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip. There are also dead and wounded in this attack.

Several areas throughout the Palestinian enclave have come under heavy airstrikes.

Doctors and displaced people at Dar Essalam Hospital in Khan Younis sent out calls for help to protect them from heavy Israeli bombardment around the hospital, WAFA reported.

Palestinian health authorities have yet to specify the exact number of casualties in Israel’s overnight attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Israel resumed its military offensive on the Gaza Strip on Friday after ending a week-long humanitarian truce with Hamas.

At least 15,899 Palestinians have been killed and more than 42,000 injured in the relentless air and ground attacks on the enclave since October 7.
