European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said they reject the designation of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) as a “terrorist organization.”

Borell, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and EU Neighborhood and Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi addressed reporters in Brussels on the sidelines of the 15th meeting of the Jordan-Europe Partnership Council.

“We refuse to label UNRWA as a terrorist organization and we will continue to support it with donors,” Borrell said, stressing the importance of the partnership between Jordan and the European Union at various levels.

Safadi pointed out that Jordan “has always been at the center of regional crises”.

“The attacks in Gaza have been going on for a very long time and we must work to stop them,” Safadi said, AA writes.
