Bosnia and Herzegovina records Increase in Number of Tourists

Bosnia and Herzegovina was visited by 285,986 tourists in the first quarter, which is 2.5 percent more than the same period last year, the BiH Statistics Agency announced.

Tourists spent 637,403 overnight stays in the first quarter, which is 0.8 percent more than in the same period in 2023.

The number of overnight stays by domestic tourists in the first quarter increased by 1.8 percent compared to the same period last year, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 0.2 percent.

In the total number of overnight stays, the participation of domestic tourists is 35.1 percent, and foreign tourists 64.9 percent.

In the structure of overnight stays by foreign tourists, tourists from Croatia accounted for the most – 30.7 percent, followed by tourists from Serbia 19.1 percent, Slovenia 8.3 percent, Turkey 5.8 percent, Montenegro 4.2 percent and Germany 3.1 percent, while tourists from other countries accounted for 28.8 percent of overnight stays.

According to the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was in hotels and similar accommodation with a participation of 95.1 percent.
