In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 110,813 minor beneficiaries of social protection services were registered in 2021, which is 7.56 percent less than in 2020, with 410,405 adult beneficiaries, which is 3.83 percent less compared to the previous year, it is stated in the publication “Bosnia and Herzegovina in numbers 2022.” published by the BiH Statistics Agency.
The largest number of minors, beneficiaries of social protection, were from three categories: threatened by a family situation (43 percent), persons in a state of various social protection needs (33 percent) and persons with disabilities in physical and mental development (14 percent).
Of the total number of social protection beneficiaries of legal age, 42 percent are from the category of people who do not have enough income to support themselves.
When it comes to the care of minors and adult users of social protection in 2021, 1,112 minors used the services of accommodation in homes for children and youth without parental care and 2,540 services of social protection institutions for disabled children, youth and adults with psychophysical developmental disabilities.
According to the formal family care of children, 1,250 had guardians, 34 children were adopted, and 435 were cared for in foster families, the BiH Statistics Agency announced.
