Amina Pezerovic, a young Bosnian with a permanent address in Minneapolis, Minnesota, decided this summer to use her break at Augsburg University for a summer internship in her homeland. Born in Tuzla, this student of international business and marketing spent the summer in Sarajevo at the company “Represent Communication”.

Professional Development

”From the beginning of my studies at the University in the United States (U.S.), I was actively looking for an internship in Bosnia because I wanted to return for a reason that was not just a vacation. The “WelcomeBack” internship, implemented by USAID, seemed to me like a perfect opportunity to learn more about marketing in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), but also to meet people who are working to create productive cooperation between the diaspora and BiH,” says Pezerovic.

During the summer, Amina supported her host company, and she had the opportunity to learn a lot in the field of communications and PR.

”I learned about many aspects of PR, communications and digital marketing. Not only was I able to work on PR projects for large companies, but I also worked with a great team and attended events organized by their clients,” added Pezerovic.

A positive example

Amina tells that it is important to hear good stories from BiHand that this is a chance to connect our people living abroad with local businesses.

”Staying in Bosnia enabled me to progress personally and professionally. I was fortunate to meet people who do important work, as well as expand my professional knowledge of business. Interning abroad, especially in my home country, is an experience I will be forever grateful for. I got out of my comfort zone and learned how to give back to the country that gave me a lot, ” concludes Pezerovic, Avaz reports.
