Bosnian Nejra Sipovic: European Champion

The young karateka from the Sarajevo Karate Club ”Ippon” and the Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) national team, Nejra Sipovic, won the gold medal in the junior senior category up to 55 kilograms at the 50th European Championship for cadets, juniors, and U-21, which was held in Larnaca, Cyprus.

In the final fight, the BiH karateka defeated Natali Osadcuk from Ukraine 6:3, and previously she was better than Ramazanov from Azerbaijan (8:0), Andrianopol from Greece (2:1), Lobato-Sanchez from Spain (3:0 ) and Bitsch from Germany (8:0).

Nejra has long been at the very top of European and world karate, and by winning the title of European champion, she only confirmed her quality and continued her harvest of medals at the biggest competitions.

Nejra Sipovic was born on October 22nd, 2003 in Sarajevo. She is a successful first-year student of the ”School of Science and Technology” – majoring in political science and international relations and diplomacy at University in Sarajevo (UNSA). She is a 2nd-day black belt karate master and a long-time member of the BiH national team from children’s to senior selection.

For many years, due to her successful performances and winning many awards, she has been present at the very top of world karate. In the previous year, she won bronze medals at the 19th Mediterranean Games ”Oran 2022” and the World Cup in Porec, and was fifth at the European Senior Championship in Gaziantep. Before that, she was the junior vice-champion of Europe, Avaz reports.
