Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against Ostoja Prpoš, also known as “Oće”, born in 1952 in Prijedor, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This accused person is charged with acting, for the purpose of acquiring unlawful material gain, in violation of the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina and in contravention of Article 6 of the Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air, Supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, when he took over Syrian citizens in the area of Prijedor and, knowing that they were smuggled persons who did not meet the conditions for a legal stay and movement in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he intended to transport them to the area of Bihać, so that they could go further to the EU countries.

The accused was detected and prevented from committing the aforementioned criminal offense by the police officers of the Una-Sana Canton Ministry of the Interior from Bihać, as they stopped the vehicle that the accused was driving, discovered illegal migrants in it and turned them over to the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina; they also seized the money that the accused had received from the smuggled persons.

The aforementioned accused person is charged with the commission of the criminal offense of the Smuggling of Persons, referred to in Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
