globeElma Subašić-Fazlić (26) from Sarajevo has been working as a stewardess in the airline company “Saudi Arabian Airlines” for three years.

Even as a child she had huge dreams to see the world and to be in this business.

The great disappointment she experienced when she did not get a job with “Bosnia Airlines” did not stop her from realizing her dreams.

“I believed in myself. I did not want to give up, so I found out from my friend that ‘Saudi Arabia Airlines’ in BiH is organizing an interview for future stewardesses. I spoke with four managers and one stewardess from Saudi Arabia and got a job’’, said Subašić-Fazlić.

When she arrived in Jeddah, she received three month training.

“During the training, I learned how to save passengers in the case of a crash. The whole training was interesting. My dream quickly became a reality’’, said Elma.

Thanks to her job, she travelled the world and got to know different cultures and visited many places.

She said that working as a stewardess is stressful, but also beautiful and interesting. The working hours are not the same every day and she never knows when she will finish work.

“I often work at night. Some flights last 10 hours. The biggest fear I experienced was during a flight to Egypt. Above Cairo there was a terrible storm and we could not land for two hours. The pilot tried, but the airplane was shaking. Passengers were screaming and we had to calm them down’’, said Elma and said that she earns a lot of money with this job.

Elma said that the life of a stewardess is not how most people imagine it to be.

“Stewardesses do not have time. They are far from their families, their loves ones. My husband Mirsad, whom I met in BiH before I became a stewardess, is my support’’, said Elma.
