Britain is preparing for new anti-immigrant and anti-Islam riots Tonight

More than 6,000 British police are bracing for new anti-immigrant and anti-Islam riots after far-right extremists announced they would attack asylum centers and immigration offices across the country.

The streets of Great Britain have been in a tense situation since a 17-year-old knifed three girls to death in the northwestern English town of Southampton last Sunday.

Anti-immigrant and anti-Islamic groups used the crime to spread misinformation and hate online, fueling riots in a number of cities. They made up the information that he was an Islamist and an asylum seeker, although the police later announced that none of that was true, reports Nova.

Anti-racist and anti-fascist groups have announced counter-demonstrations in cities across the country.

“Racist scum will try to attack an immigration lawyer’s office. We won’t let that happen – bring your face masks,” is one of the counter-protesters’ messages.

To fight against rioters, the government established a unit of 6,000 special officers who will respond to any violence.

“This country is facing one of the worst outbreaks of violent disorder in a decade. We will not tolerate this on our streets. We will use all available forces, tactics and tools to prevent further riots,” said Andy Valentine, head of police operations in London.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that more than 400 people have been arrested so far, and 100 of them have been charged, and that he expects the first verdicts soon.

On communication applications, the rioters are arranging for tonight’s attacks on immigration centers and law offices that help migrants.

“Wednesday night guys. They won’t stop coming until you tell them to stop,” read one message.

In anticipation of the protests, messages on social media have indicated that targets will include asylum centers and immigration law firms. This has prompted anti-fascist groups to organize counter-demonstrations. The government has also prepared additional prison spaces to handle those arrested during the riots.
