Reis-ul-Ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein ef. Kavazovic met with the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President Federica Mogherini in Brussels.
They discussed the contribution of religious communities to the path of BiH towards Europe. Reis-ul-Ulema Kavazovic noted the importance of maintaining hope on the accession of the Balkan states to the EU and the need for preventing certain attempts to turn the Balkan into the area for which the great powers are fighting.
Federica Mogherini noted her strong support for the European perspective of BiH once again. During the day, Reis-ul-Ulema Kavazovic also met with Vice President of the European Parliament Mairead McGuinness.
On both meetings, Reis-ul-Ulema Kavazovic drew special attention to attempts of politicization of fight against violent extremism and radicalism as well as the need for building trust, not only in BiH but in the region as well.
Reis-ul-Ulema Kavazovic also met with members of the group Friends of BiH in the European Parliament. Friends of BiH is an informal group of parliamentarians who are helping and supporting BiH on its path towards the European Union.
During the day, Reis-ul-Ulema Kavazovic also met with Christian Dan Preda, special rapporteur for BiH in the European Parliament.
