An urgent meeting of European Union (EU) ambassadors is scheduled for today in Brussels, after US President Donald Trump announced that he will introduce tariffs on goods from eight European countries in connection with the situation around Greenland, Reuters reported, referring to EU diplomats.
The meeting is organized by Cyprus, which currently holds the EU presidency.
At such meetings of ambassadors, practical measures are usually prepared for discussion at the next ministerial meetings of the Council of the EU.
Trump announced yesterday that in February tariffs of 10 percent will be introduced on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Finland, which will later be increased to 25 percent and will remain in force until the US reaches an agreement on the purchase of Greenland.
