Brussels warns of the Risk of regional Conflict spreading in the Middle East

The European Union (EU) has warned that Israel retaliated against Iran with an attack, raising the risk of a broader regional conflict.

“The dangerous cycle of attacks and reprisals risks triggering the spread of regional conflict,” stated the European External Action Service (EEAS).

In the statement published on the EU’s website, the European bloc acknowledged Israel’s right to self-defense but emphasized that “the EU urges all parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid uncontrolled escalation, which is in no one’s interest.”

“The EU remains fully committed to reducing tensions, contributing to de-escalation, and maintaining close contact with all relevant actors,” the EEAS added.

It is worth recalling that the Israeli military launched attacks yesterday on “military targets” in Iran, describing them as “precise strikes on military objectives.”

The Israeli military stated that these attacks were “a response to strikes on Israel in recent months.”
