Current Mayor of the Municipality of Srebrenica Ćamil Duraković said that the candidate of Serb parties for the mayor of Srebrenica Mladen Grujičić won the local elections, but that he still has the possibility to appeal to the decision by the Central Election Commission of BiH.
According to the results available on the website of CIK that were updated yesterday, Duraković has 3.897 and Grujičić has 4.675 votes.
“There are still some votes from absence to be counted, but when it comes to mail all votes have been counted. I count on some 100 to 200 votes from absence, and even if all the votes from absence are for me, Grujičić is still the winner, with 600 to 700 votes more. I did not expect significantly different situation, but we will still wait for Monday and the official confirmation of election results,” said Duraković and added that he will exercise his legal right to appeal on certain things.
Current Mayor of Srebrenica says that he will primarily appeal on the outcome of votes that arrived by mail.
“We already have proof that people who were registered to vote by mail did not receive ballots, then there were people who applied to vote and stated one address, while CIK sent the ballots to another. All votes we expected to arrive by mail would apparently be in our favor and we would win. We should just check and submit appeals in legal frameworks and thus dispute the procedure of the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RS, who entered the premises of the Municipality of Srebrenica unlawfully,” Duraković said.
In the end, Duraković said that he still does not admit to the defeat until the election process is terminated and everyone says their final word.
