Campara: The Number of Crimes and Stolen Vehicles reduced in FBiH

camparaWhile presenting the Information on the state of security in the FBiH for the year 2016 at yesterday’s session of the House of Peoples of the FBiH, the Minister of the Internal Affairs of FBiH Aljosa Campara said that in the past year, in comparison to 2015, the number of offenses was reduced by 8.35 %, or 1696.

A number of offenses that were committed in 2016 amounted to 18,610, while in 2015 it was 20,306.

The total number of crimes against property was reduced by 15, 5 %, or 1,907, which amounted to 10.374 last year.

“In the FBiH, especially in the area of Canton Sarajevo which had the biggest number of alienated vehicles, was recorded a reduced number of such vehicles by 18.2 %, which is 200 stolen vehicles less. In 2016, was stolen 897 vehicles, while in 2015 a total of 1,097 vehicles,” said Campara.

Also, there was by 20.6 percent less juvenile perpetrators, while the number of returnees in the commission of crimes was decreased by 16.2 % in 2016.

The number of people killed in traffic accidents was slightly decreased by 1.6 % or three persons.

Talking about negative trends, he noted the increasing number of crimes against life (1.3 % / 12 offenses more), drug abuse (11.1 % / 117 offenses more) and acts of economic and financial crime and corruption (8.6 % / 38 offenses more).

The number of members of the MIA in the commission of crimes was increased by 138.5 percent, or from 13 in 2015 to 31 in 2016.

The number of violations in the field of public law and order was increased by 536 offenses and the number of traffic accidents by 396 accidents.

Campara talked about the work of the Federal Police as well, and he praised the work of the Centre for Forensic and IT support, which has registered 387 cases more, whose number amounted to 2,619 in the past year.

“Federal Police, in cooperation with cantonal ministries of interior, will continue with continuing activities by the law enforcement agencies in order to create a more favorable safety situation¸ in the FBiH,” said the Minister of the Internal Affairs of FBiH, Aljosa Campara.
