The mayor of the capital of Canada, Ottawa, declared July 11 this year as the Day of Remembrance for the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica. This is the first time that the capital of Canada pays tribute to the victims of the biggest crime since the Holocaust in Europe.
This proclamation is another invitation to the ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Canada, Marko Milisav, who has so far not respected the decisions of the Parliament of Canada on the genocide in Srebrenica or the decisions of the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to lower the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina to half-mast on July 11, according to Genocide Research Institute of Canada.
So far, on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, they have received, as they claim, proclamations from the prime minister of the Canadian province of New Brunswick and the mayor of the largest Canadian city, Toronto.
The Canadian Central Commemoration will be held on July 8 in Windsor in front of the first monument to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica in the diaspora, announced the Canadian Genocide Research Institute.
They expect proclamations by the prime ministers of other Canadian provinces and territories and major Canadian cities by July 11.
