On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of formation the B&H Army and 9th anniversary of the second infantry regiment of the B&H Armed Forces today held a minute of silence, Fatiha prayer and laid flowers at the cemetery “Kovaći, and they paid homage to martyrs and soldiers of the B&H Army.
Chairman of B&H Presidency Bakir Izetbegović, B&H Presidency member Željko Komšić, a delegation of the B&H Ministry of Defense, B&H Armed Forces, a delegation of legislative and executive authorities of B&H, FB&H, veteran’s organizations, international military organizations laid flowers on the central plateau and at the grave of Alija Izetbegović, the first President B&H and the supreme commander of B&H Army.
“It was a big day when the B&H Army was formed, which made an unexpected and miraculous resistance. Courage, the love of our people and patriotism towards the country ruled. They fought for the integrity of the country, for its constitutional order, for equality of every citizen of B&H”, said Bakir Izetbegović in a media statement.
“We are proud. This is the day when B&H Army started to be created. It brings back memories, of what it started, how many people were there and what happened. There are reasons to be proud of it. There is always sadness for people and friends who are no longer with us. At every cemetery there are people which I knew”, said Željko Komšić.
He pointed out that B&H has passed through hard moments and has survived, but what is happening to us now seems the hardest thing that one might imagine.
“If we look at the history of B&H, there were hardest moments and B&H survived them all. B&H survived its enemies. B&H will survive current the happenings as well”, said Komšić.
Flowers were laid and were they paid tribute at the city cemetery “Stadion” Koševo, with the presence of military officials, representatives of B&H government, FB&H, cantons, municipalities and representatives of veterans’ organizations.
