Memorial slobodnaevropa.orgMunicipality of Centar donated the grant of 4.000 BAM to the Association of Parents of Killed Children of the Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995. President of the Association Fikret Grabovica visited the Municipality. The grant was donated for the purpose of preparing the event “Day of remembrance of the killed children”.

Grabovica thanked the Municipality for the donated funds and informed the present ones about the activities that this Association implements, as well as about the issues that they face every day.

“On behalf of the population I represent, I want to express my sincerest gratitude for the longtime cooperation and support that is highly necessary for our activities. In the past period, the Association has truly done many socially beneficial things. Among other things, in cooperation with the Institute of the University of Sarajevo for research of crimes against humanity and the international law we made a monograph on 900 pages, which will be left to the future generations, we made several films, a number of reports. We expect the cooperation with the Centar Municipality to be continued in the future, as well. I want to say thanks to the Mayor Bećirević, Chairman Ajnadžić, Co-Chairman Kovačević, because Municipality of Centar is an institution that supports us the most. For some time now, the Association has been looking for a space where we would implement the project ‘Memorial room for the killed children’ and we hope that the Municipality will help us,” Grabovica said.

Chairman of the Municipal Council Nedžad Ajnadžić emphasized that the local community is proud of the work of this Association.

“The Municipality of Centar will, in accordance with its abilities, continue to support your work. You are doing a very socially beneficial work, committing the young generations that come. It is necessary to keep reminding ourselves about what happened, and at the same time we must point to the important goals in the future and perspective also from the aspect of moving of BiH and our social community towards the EU. Memorial for the killed children of the besieged Sarajevo must send a message to the entire world. You must keep reminding us of that kind of problem that you live with, and we must have understanding for that. I believe your functional office space should be in the same place as the space where the ‘Memorial room for the killed children’ will be situated, and we will do everything in our power to help you achieve that,” Ajnadžić added.
