New York City firefighters initiated an emergency response protocol after explosions and ground shaking were reported on Roosevelt Island early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters and police were called to the 580 block of Main Street, south of the Roosevelt Island Bridge and Tram, just before 6 a.m. after multiple reports of small explosions and tremors, the fire department said, according to CBS.

Potential explosions caused power outages on Roosevelt Island. According to reports, helicopters are flying over the city.

While the roads remain open, the NYPD is directing traffic through the area. Emergency services are still on the ground, trying to find the source of the alleged explosion.

There are no reports of injuries, N1 writes.
