Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD reported a surge in sales at the end of 2024, signaling its approach to the United States (U.S.) company Tesla in the race for the position of the world’s most popular brand.
In December, BYD sold 207.734 battery electric cars, nine percent more than in the same period the previous year, according to a report published on Wednesday.
Throughout 2024, they sold a total of 1.76 million, 12 percent more than the previous year.
The Chinese company sold a total of 4.25 million new energy vehicles last year, 41 percent more than in 2023. Sales of hybrid models jumped by as much as 73 percent.
