The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) said its security forces have arrested one person after a standoff outside the agency’s Langley headquarters.
A CIA spokesman confirmed that security forces confronted one person outside the main gate and added that the person is in custody.
The spokesman declined to say whether the suspect was shot and did not provide other details.
NBC News previously reported that the person had been shot, citing a source familiar with the matter.
The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. local time, a police spokesman said.
The CIA has closed the main gate of its Langley compound and ordered employees to seek alternative routes.
The shooting comes after a gunman killed two Israeli Embassy employees in downtown Washington last night, but there is no indication that the incidents are linked.
