b_161130030Presentation of closing arguments at the trial of the former commandant of the General Staff of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) Ratko Mladić will begin on December 5; decided The Hague Tribunal.

By the decision of The Hagze Tribunal, prosecutors will present closing arguments from December 5 until December 7, and defense from December 9 until December 13.

Both sides will have time to reflect on closing arguments of the opposing party on December 15.

This decision can be appealed and Mladić’s defense has made several requests for postponement of closing arguments for spring next year.

Mladić is accused of genocide in Srebrenica, persecution of Bosniaks and Croats across BiH with scope of genocide in six municipalities, terrorizing the citizens of Sarajevo, and taking UNPROFOR members as hostages.

Mladić was arrested in 2011 after spending many years at run, and his trial began in May 2012.

According to the framework plan of the Tribunal, first instance verdict of Mladić should be pronounced by November 2017.
