Commissioner Selimovic addressed the Public after his Resignation

Nusret Selimovic addressed the public after he resigned from the post of Commissioner of the Sarajevo Police yesterday, and on that occasion, he explained why he decided to resign.

He said that he resigned in order to protect the integrity of the position he held.

”Protecting the integrity of the position of police commissioner, I decided to submit my resignation to the Minister of Internal Affairs (Admir Katica – NiP) and the Canton Sarajevo (CS) Government. Although we had the opportunity to hear that there was a ‘deliberate implementation of someone’s agenda to weaken the security system’, my conscience is completely clear, because I know that I led honorable people in the Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of CS, whose sole agenda, like mine personally, is to protect the lives and property of all citizens of CS, the fight against all forms of crime, and especially against organized crime and corruption,” he emphasized.

Selimovic announced that he will continue to perform the duties of police commissioner until, as he indicated, the creation of legal prerequisites for the appointment of a police officer to replace the commissioner, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of CS announced.

To recall, he resigned due to long and great pressure, and the current cantonal government reproached him for alleged omissions related to technical-procedural issues. Because of this, he received negative evaluations from the Independent Board, which held a session yesterday.

The Independent Board considered the mentioned issues, but not those related to the work of the Sarajevo police on the Sky case. It is a huge case involving a large number of criminal acts. All these acts are being investigated by the police under the leadership of Selimovic.

As part of the investigation of that case, a large number of people were arrested in the last year, several narcotics smuggling chains were broken, and much more. Selimovic resigned at a time when the investigation was intensifying. It is also indicative that it is intended to shut down and ”reform” the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska (RS), which is also investigating what was learned through the inspection of messages from the Sky mobile application, Klix.ba reports.
