Completion of works on the main pipe on the Vranduk II tunnel is expected in ten days, was stated to Fena news agency from the Public Enterprise Roads of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Work is currently underway on the installation of tunnel management equipment. Excavations were made in the service pipe, and the remaining works on the installation of waterproofing, secondary lining and installation of the lower machine.

The contractor is joint venture Hering d.d. Široki Brijeg and BBM d.o.o. Sarajevo. The value of works on the project, which includes the reconstruction of this tunnel and two bridges, is 16,769,997.23 BAM with VAT.

The works are financed by loans from the World Bank (IBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB). Public Enterprise Cesta FBiH reminds that the works on the rehabilitation of the Vranduk II tunnel began in September 2018, and that they are carried out in accordance with the construction permit issued by the Federal Ministry of Physical Planning and the Environmental and Social Management Plan for the Vranduk II Tunnel Rehabilitation Project and reconstruction of bridges Bosna IV and V.

“The deadline for the completion of works on the rehabilitation of the Vranduk II tunnel and the reconstruction of the Bosna IV and V bridges was until the end of March this year, and that deadline was extended until September 4 this year. During March, the contractor had problems with the delivery of materials and equipment to the construction site from abroad, for the works that were supposed to be performed before the final layer of asphalt. The complete dynamics of construction was additionally influenced by the situation with the closure of borders due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” they said in PE Cesta FBiH.
