“Activities of the Union of pensioners of Italy on paths of solidarity” is the theme of the conference which will be held in Sarajevo today.
Italian Ambassador to BiH Ruggero Corrias stressed that the union of pensioners of Italy is very strong and that it gathers more than five million members, and that for many years it has helped BiH pensioners’ unions in their development.
He explained that this cooperation dates back to the period after the last war, when it came down to activities promoting solidarity, but later they got involved in the creation of union of pensioners in BiH with the change in its statute and similar activities.
“Pensioners are in a difficult situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Italy, which is caused by poor economic growth in recent years, and the solution to it is in the economic development and employment, which the pensions depend upon,” said Ambassador Corrias.
President of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH Ismet Bajramović said that today’s conference in Sarajevo has brought together leaders of pensioners in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and representatives of the union of pensioners of Italy who will discuss topics of significance to this population.
