IX transverzala faktor.baContract for beginning of construction of the remaining part of the IX transversal, i.e. the first stage of construction of this crucial road, was signed in Sarajevo on Thursday. It is one of the most important infrastructure projects in the field of traffic that is jointly implemented by the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo and the Ministry of Traffic of the Sarajevo Canton, through the Directorate for Roads of the Sarajevo Canton.

Contract was signed by the Mayor of the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality Semir Efendić, Director of the Directorate for Roads of the Sarajevo Canton Nermin Drnda and Director of the company Euro-Asfalt Hamed Ramić.

“Value of works in the first stage is almost 500.000 BAM. Two million BAM were spent for expropriation of land from the company Energoinvest and one part of private land. Total section is 600 meters long, and the first stage which begins in the Džemala Bijedića Street is a little over 100 meters long,” Efendić said.

Second stage of the road is actually a bridge across the railroad at the site of the local railway station, which complicated the project additionally so the length of the bridge itself is significantly larger, almost 500 meters. Property and legal issues are mostly solved, the land belongs to the Railways of FBiH, and currently in progress are preparations for removal of certain private facilities. Beginning of works is expected next year.

Completion of the IX transversal is of great significance because the Novi Grad Municipality is divided into two parts with the railway. This road will connect Boljakov Potok with Alipašino Polje at the locality known as Alipašin Most.

The IX transversal begins in Mojmilo, then goes through Alipašino Polje to the intersection with the Džemala Bijedića Street, and the new section will go to the roundabout at the intersection of the Safeta Zajke Street and Smajila Šikala Street. Deadline for completion of works on the first stage is 120 days starting from next week.
