Construction of Campus a Strategic Priority

Member of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović received the Delegation from the University of Sarajevo, led by rector Muharem Avdispahić. They discussed the current situation of higher education and the status of the University of Sarajevo.

The Vice-Rectors Ugo Ugo Vlaisavljević, Faruk Mekić and Dženan Đonlagić were part of the Delegation from the University.

They all agreed of the social importance of higher education and concluded that work needs to be done on drafting legislation in line with European standards, which would ensure stable financing and institutional autonomy of the University.

Rektor Avdispahić told Izetbegović about the problems that the University of Sarajevo faces, as well as the planned projects. He also said that the construction of the campus has to be a strategic priority.

Bakir Izetbegović supported the outlined initiatives from the key people in the University of Sarajevo and said that it is necessary to introduce more order in higer education and stronger engagement of state institutions, as well as to have more responsible members of the academic community in order to have better quality regulation of further development in this area.
