The acting director of the company Republika Srpska (RS) Motorways, Radovan Viskovic, and the director of the Chinese company China Overseas, Li Gang, yesterday in Banja Luka signed the financial part of the contract for the construction of the motorway section from Bijeljina to Brcko, 17 kilometers in length, with a deadline for the realization of the project of 60 months.

The total value of the offer by the group of bidders amounts to approximately 347 million BAM, of which the value for design and execution of works is around 275 million BAM, excluding VAT, as stated in the explanation of the signed contract.

After the signing of the contract, Viskovic told journalists that this is the sixth in a series of projects that the Chinese are carrying out in this entity.

“RS is entering a serious investment cycle at the beginning of spring. Negotiations lasted about three years, and we managed to bring them to an end and enter the New Year with investments,” Viskovic emphasized.

He recalled that seven days ago, a financial contract was signed for the motorway section from Vukosavlje to Brcko, which approximately costs around 650 million BAM excluding VAT, stressing that in the past seven days they have reached two very important agreements with Chinese partners worth around one billion BAM.

Li told journalists that this project is of strategic importance for RS, that its construction will encourage regional economic development and traffic connectivity, which will mean more efficient travel for citizens, while at the same time having great importance for local development.

“Today is an important day for Autoputevi RS. Chinese banks are signing the loan agreement, which means that the project will soon enter the implementation phase,” Li emphasized, Srna news agency writes.
